Building State Federations: Provide Resources to State Fed Leaders

CDA’s has a responsibility to serve as a resource to state federations. Whether it is poster templates, state plan sections, etc., we want to ensure that every state federation and their chapters have the necessary resources possible to bolster membership and coordinate activities.

Building a Movement: Recruiting Young Leaders

There are many states where there is not a state federation in existence to either engage their peers or assist with campaigns. We will work with current College Democrats leaders and the State Party to actively recruit interested young people who care passionately about helping move the Democratic Party forward.

Building Leaders: Forge Relationships with State Parties

The College Democrats of America is the official student outreach arm of the Democratic National Committee. Young people proved to be an important voting block in the 2008 presidential election, and we plan to show our strength again in 2010. But, we want to ensure that this relationship continues in the states, especially in this critical mid-term election year. We will work closely with state federations to help them gain representation on the state party’s Executive Committee.

Building Bridges: Consolidate YDA-CDA Relationships

Many states have a strong YDA presence, and we must cooperate with them to see that there are no barriers to mobilizing our peers and electing Democrats all across the board. We will communicate very closely with the YDA College Caucus leaders to ensure a healthy relationship in every state.

Expanding CDA’s Constituencies: Cooperate With CDA’s Caucuses

CDA’s constituent-based caucuses are crucial programming components of CDA. The goal is to have a representative to each caucus serving in every state federation. This will not only enhance the diversity of the state and national leadership, it will also strengthen the ability of the caucuses to implement programs and initiatives in various states.
